Next problem Forth Road Bridge

May 13th, 2007 by kdorren

So having driven up on Saturday morning - so early as to avoid the traffic restrictions on the Forth Road Bridge I thought I was very clever. In fact so clever that I thought I should check the delay’s on the Forth Estuary website before heading back down to the big city on Sunday. It was 3pm and usually Friday afternoon is a cruise down the road, finish and review homework with the kids and spend a few hours relaxing in zombie mode in front of the TV. But EEK, there was a 1.5 hour delay on the southbound carriageway. Quickly we changed plan and decided to drive to Rothiemurchus Estate and do a little afternoon fishing (our guide for activities from Nethybridge). The scores on the doors are:

  • Freyja - landed 2.2lb Rainbow Trout
  • DJ - landed but released 2lb Trout
  • Claire - nil point
  • Kevin - nil point but caught 2 fish but they got away.

The deal with Freyja was she had to eat anything she caught - this wasn’t an incentive in her view! We also saw the Osprey from RSPB Loch Garten fly in and look for a little trout for it’s tea too!

We then headed to the other provision ground of Tesco and due to the lack of fish we bought some burgers to throw onto the Barbeque.

Having cooked dinner we got into the car at 7.30 and headed back to Edinburgh listening to Lemony Snicket (book 1).
